Top Ten Tuesday: Last 10 Books That Came Into My Possession!

July 7, 2015 by Bernadette ~ The Bumbling Bookworm

Top Ten Tuesday is THE bookish meme, hosted by the wonderful ladies at The Broke and the Bookish, the book blog that hooked me on all other book blogs!  I’m a sucker for bookish memes, so here we go…

Today’s topic is Last Ten Books That Came Into My Possession.  This wasn’t a tough one, books somehow manage to come into my possession on a regular basis… Of course, I’m certainly not opposed to this!  So, in no particular order here’s my list 🙂

Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsey
Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy
The Potion Diaries by Amy Alward
Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
Night Film by Marisha Pessl
Off the Page by Jodi Picoult & Samantha Van Leer
The Happiest Refugee by Anh Do
Light on Yoga by B.K.S Iyengar

What a mix of books that is!  We’ve got a mix of fiction and non-fiction, contemporary and classics, young adult and adult, the list goes on!

I bought Picnic at Hanging Rock, Brideshead Revisited and Jane Eyre at the Dymocks on Collins Street, I had a gift card and they had a 3 for 2 special on the Penguin Classics.  Dumplin’ and The Potion Diaries are ARCs from Penguin Teen Australia and Simon & Schuster Australia, respectively.  I bought Dreams of Gods and Monsters on Sunday just gone; I’d bought the first two books in the series a few months ago with that gift card I mentioned earlier, but I’ve been waiting forever for this edition to be published to complete my set.

I bought Night Film for $5 when I was in the city for work a few weeks ago, at The Book Grocer’s.  I imagine I would’ve spent a helluva lot more than that, had I not been rushing to get back to work!  I buy all of Jodi Picoult’s books, and Off the Page was no exception.  I went and saw Anh Do’s show, also called The Happiest Refugee, and had to buy his book afterwards – for those of you who don’t know, Anh is a Vietnamese refugee and an Australian comedian, he came to Australia when he was a toddler.  And last, but certainly not least, I’ve taken up yoga lately and I learn best through books, so I bought what is known as the yoga bible, Light on Yoga.

There you have it, that’s my list!  How about you, what did you have on your list?

I adore those editions of your penguin classics! The spines look awesome!
I just finished reading Jane Eyre, and OH MY GOODNESS it was fantastic! I definitely recommend it! It looks a bit intimidating, but it’s actually quite an easy and fast-paced read.

    • I love how matchy-matchy they are, I have some more and they all look so cool on my shelves!
The length of Jane Eyre definitely intimidates me. I’ve never read it, which is partly why I bought it, but I’m so time poor that I look at it and wince! Glad to hear it was a fast-paced read, I may have to push this up my TBR 🙂

Hi! I'm Bernadette, a 27 year old lawyer who loves to read (duh!), especially to escape my day job. I love to talk about books but I don't always get the opportunity to do so, hence my blog! I adore YA literature, most genres of Adult Fiction, and I've also been known to pick up a non-fiction book from time to time. I hope you enjoy your visit!
