Welcome to another edition of Wednesday’s Weekly Wrap-Up!  For lack of a better title, this is where I share with you all of the (mostly bookish) interesting bits and pieces I’ve bumbled across in the past week (usually) 🙂

We had Tim Tams at work today… Yummy!

What have you missed?

On my blog:

Wednesday: Wednesday’s Weekly Wrap-Up {11}
Friday: Flashback Friday ~ Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Sunday: Review ~ Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
Tuesday: Review ~ The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet by Bernie Su and Kate Rorick

On the interwebs:

How awesome are these cookies!!!  Made by Lindsay of The Broke Book Girls, they’re the perfect way to celebrate the release of ISLA last week… Speaking of ISLA, my copy has finally been shipped and I’m hoping to have it by the end of the month – fingers crossed!

So apparently a study has found that readers absorb less when reading on the kindle rather than a physical book.  This doesn’t surprise me, this has always been a problem of mine.  I’ve often found that I can’t concentrate or focus when I’m reading a ebook, but this doesn’t seem to happen as often when I’m reading a physical book.  I know which one I prefer 🙂

If I Stay is releasing in US cinemas this week, but spare a though for us Aussies who have to wait a whole extra week 😦 For those of you looking for something to read and you’re a fan of If I Stay, here’s 25 recommendations.

Speaking of If I Stay, Gayle Forman has shared her inspiration behind the novel and it’s very moving, check it out here.

Book Riot have recently released a list of 28 awesome tumblrs for YA fans, and they’ve previously shared these tumblrs for bookish types.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re addicted to reading, this post is for you.  FYI, I totally identify with 99% of the 50 signs…

The Fault in Our Stars is getting a Bollywood remake and I’m not even kidding… Bride and Prejudice was a great Bollywood adaptation but I’m not sure how TFIOS will go… Speaking of which, I really need to see this! (the original, not the Bollywood remake that hasn’t even happened yet!)

I adore bookish quotes – this week I stumbled across 10 YA quotes to channel your brave and also 12 quotes to decribe you and your BFF.

Amber at The Mile Long Bookshelf wrote a great post on the top trends in YA covers.  Some trends I love, like the hipster-ish covers, and others (eg mysterious) don’t really take my fancy.  Check it out, there are some really great covers!

I’ve never been a fan of the term “DNF” and it seems I’m not alone.  Cee at The Novel Hermit recently wrote a post about breaking up with the term “DNF” and she makes some fantastic points.  I too prefer to put books on pause/hiatus rather than give up on them completely 🙂

What’s news with me?

My parents are in the process of moving house and there isn’t as much room in the house they’re moving to for various reasons.  How does this impact on me, you may ask?  Well, my prized possessions were still at mum and dad’s house… That’s right, my books and DVDs!  And since there’s no room for them in the new place, guess where they are now… For those of you who guessed my house, you get a virtual cookie 🙂 It was either that or put them in storage, and there was no way that was happening!

I tell you what though, it was certainly a tiring process!  My books were all in my bedroom upstairs, and I had to cart them all downstairs to pack them up into my suitcases – I felt that was smarter than packing them upstairs and then trying to lug the suitcases downstairs… Spread out the load, so to speak.  I must’ve gone up and down those stairs at least 100 times on Saturday and I’m STILL tired – I need to get more active!!

Well, four suitcases later (2 big, 2 medium), everything has been moved into my house and I’m so excited!  Of course, I have no room for them so they’re staying in the suitcases under my bed.  For those of you who might be wondering what’s the difference between that and putting them into a storage facility, I only have two things to say: proximity and I’m paranoid about them getting damaged 🙂 My shelves have gone into storage because I don’t have any room for them here, but I couldn’t care less what happens to them – they were just Ikea cheapies so they’re easily replaced.  On second thought, they’re also far cheaper to replace than my humonganormus book collection!

And I still have even more moving fun to look forward to over the next two weekends… I have other fun things to look forward to as well this weekend – Friday night drinks for my bestie’s 27th birthday, my cousin/godchild’s 13th birthday party on Saturday night, and brunch with a former work colleague on Sunday.  That should keep me going 🙂

What am I…

Reading?

You can check out my reading progress for the Beat the Heat Readathon right here… I’m a bit behind!

Watching?

I finally finished binge-watching Offspring, and to be honest I’m surprised it took me so long when there’s only a total of 65 episodes…  It feels like so much more than that!

I need something to fill in my Wednesday nights now that Offspring’s finished and I think Wonderland might do the trick.  I need to catch up though – I started watching it last year and then I went overseas for three weeks.  I didn’t catch up or get back into it, so I should probably do that soon…

I also watched The Birdcage over the weekend and it was hilarious!

I was going to stay up on Saturday night and watch Good Will Hunting (for the first time…) but I was too tired after all the packing and moving.  I’ll have to get it so I can watch it when I have time, it’s a travesty that I haven’t seen it yet!

Listening to?

This one’s big at Zumba and it’s so catchy, I can’t get it out of my head!

I’m loving this, I’m really excited for new music from Maroon 5 🙂

This one is on high rotation on Pandora at the moment, and it’s another one stuck in my head…

There you have it!  Happy Wednesday!

Oh those Anna biscuits are seriously creative and look DELICIOUS. 😉 And Timtams? YUM.

I’m pretty unsure about the bollywood version of TFIOS. I mean…how?!! I haven’t watched the original yet, but as soon as it comes out on DVD you better believe I’ll be glued to my tv. lol 😉 I can’t wait!

I hadn’t heard that All About The Bass song but woah it’s catchy and kind of funky. 😉

  3. […] how this actually affects me, since I don’t live with my parents, other than by forcing me to find a new home for my books and DVDs… Well, today I finally said goodbye to something very special in my […]

Hi! I'm Bernadette, a 27 year old lawyer who loves to read (duh!), especially to escape my day job. I love to talk about books but I don't always get the opportunity to do so, hence my blog! I adore YA literature, most genres of Adult Fiction, and I've also been known to pick up a non-fiction book from time to time. I hope you enjoy your visit!
